New Music Alert Vol I: New Music from Pop Smoke, Lil Baby, Tekashi 69 & Many More!

What it do world! So I wanted to do something new with these “New Music Alert” drops by dropping all the new music in a single post. I’ll either just do individual post or do volumes. Maybe both? No need to duplicate and do double work right? Feedback is much appreciated. Alright, lets dive in…

Pop Smoke – Make It Rain ft. Rowdy Rebel

WOOOO BACK BABY! Initially I anticipated i’d be writing an album review for Pop Smoke’s forthcoming posthumous album, which was originally slated for a June 15th. This past Wednesday Steven Victor in a moving IG post explained the album push back which can found below:

What a treat we received with “Make It Rain” !! It’s so hard to believe Pop really isn’t here with us and for a moment I forgot about his untimely passing. 😦 “Make It Rain” reminds us though Pop will always be here with us. He’ll live on through his music and will continue to make an impact with releases like this. Rest In Power Pop! Also, I’m still in awe at the fact this monstrous track features Rowdy Rebel freestyling off the jail phone! See you soon Rowdy and Bobby! I love this track and I think anyone who was a fan of Pop will too. Enjoy!

6ix9ine – TROLLZ ft. Nicki Minaj

Man look I vowed to always keep it 2 Virgil’s when I started blogging and doing reviews (aka keep it a 100/be entirely honest for those non cultured readers). This man 6ix9ine is defying odds right now like him or not.  Tekashi openly and willingly snitched on his whole crew and is hated by many for it. Some even want him dead but with all that is somewhat even bigger than he was before he went to jail and started snitching it feels like.  Many believed including myself that no one would work with a “snitch.” In our culture we know what some results of snitching could be but it’s almost as if snitching has given 6ix9ine new life. On “TROLLZ,” 6ix9ine teams up with Nicki Minaj to deliver quite the surprise…. TROLLZ is the combination of smooth and silky production, Tekashi’s rowdy-ness and Nicki Minaj’s usual concoction of her Barbie rappity raps.  Me personally, I don’t think this song is half bad. I had it come on during my Friday morning workout and instantly replayed it after the song ended…. whoops? Anyways I have other music to address in this post.

P.S Checkout Out Episode 2 of The In Suave We Trust Podcast… (Also available on Apple Podcast & Anchor)

Lil Baby – A Bigger Picture

Lil Baby gets real political on “A Bigger Picture” and i couldn’t be more proud! Like the rest of Black America, he has had ENOUGH. It’s awesome to see one of the hottest acts in the game today and leader of the new generation take a stand and use his platform. “The Bigger Picture” has Lil Baby unapologetic-ally rapping about police brutality, his experience in jail, and the importance of staying united during these tough times. He raps with this sense of urgency which motivating to the listener to continue this fight against police brutality, racism and systematic oppression. I’m proud of Lil Baby. I’m proud of Black America. I’m proud to be BLACK.

P.S: It’s time to have a real discussion about Lil Baby’s talent and where he ranks among his peers currently. He’s owning 2020!

 Kojo Funds – Vanessa

Kojo Funds returns with one of my most overplayed songs this weekend alone.  Kojo’s latest single “Vanessa” arrives just in time for the SUMMER. If you don’t like this track you’ll probably still end up singing it at some point due to how damn catchy it is. With this release it’s safe to say Kojo is ready to continue his run and deliver a great follow up to 2018’s ‘Golden Boy.’

RATING (⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Kojey Radical (ft. Mereba) – Same Boat

Kojey Radical really is generational talent. Some folks may not realize it yet but please just take my word for it. * Insert corny In Suave We Trust Slogan I’m still working on* Anyways, Kojey has returned with his new emotive, reflective and uplifting new single “Same Boat”‘ featuring the extremely talented one-to-watch vocalist Mereba.

It’s been said that the inspiration behind this lovely track is Kojey’s mother who always motivated him, shaped who he is today and  never restricted his growth. Kojey has been doing a lot of great things lately.

The new single arrives after his debut of the hour long “Proud Of You'” film, a personal piece of work which features over 100 submissions from his community after his call-out for fans to get involved in his #imsoimsoproud challenge. He recently wrote in the British GQ Magazine an AMAZING PIECE surrounding the current state of our battle against racism and systematic oppression. Check it out!

Spillage Village, EARTHGANG, JID – End of Daze feat. Jurdan Bryant, Mereba, Hollywood JB

Spillage Village returns to the scene in glorious fashion! As many may know, J.I.D. and EarthGang have become two of Dreamvillle’s most valuable acts on their roster. What some of y’all may not know is their journey began with Spillage Village, an artistic collective dedicated to writing and recording music. As expected each member lays down impressive verses over a smooth & menacing baseline. Earlier this year J.I.D and EarthGang did say an album is on the way. Is this a sign of a rollout?
